Edges of Population
Education is one of the ways the Marianists bring people, especially those who have been excluded, into the main stream of culture. From the very beginning, the Marianists have remained committed to living with and working with those who are on the edges of society.
Loneliness touches everyone at times, but it doesn’t have to have the final word. Father Gene reflects on how purposeful gathering—small, intentional moments of connection—can grow into real community, offering space to listen, share, laugh, and walk through life together.
Some lessons arrive softly, reminding us that caring for others begins with caring for ourselves. Father Gene shares why creating sacred space for “me” isn’t selfish—it’s essential—and how learning to say “I can’t” can become an act of love.
