Father Gene believes that there are many components that go into a relationship to create a happy marriage. Love, Honor, and Obey. Obey? Obedience doesn’t mean, “Do as you’re told.” Obedience in marriage means listening to the heart of your partner. In order to love someone, and in order to honor someone, one has to listen to them. And this idea can be a model for us for all of life as we strive to listen to others to truly understand others.
What if God's plan isn't a perfect blueprint, but a relationship that continues even when we fail? Father Gene reflects on a God who doesn't abandon us when we fall short, but continually invites us forward with faith, hope, and love.
Growing up means carrying both the good and the mistakes that shaped us. Father Gene reflects on truth, confession, friendship, and the difficult journey of forgiving ourselves, reminding us that our mistakes may be part of our story—but they don't have to define it.
