Father Gene believes that there are many components that go into a relationship to create a happy marriage. Love, Honor, and Obey. Obey? Obedience doesn’t mean, “Do as you’re told.” Obedience in marriage means listening to the heart of your partner. In order to love someone, and in order to honor someone, one has to listen to them. And this idea can be a model for us for all of life as we strive to listen to others to truly understand others.
Father Gene reflects on the challenge and gift of living fully in the present. Rather than being weighed down by past regrets or future worries, he explores the daily practice of focusing on “now” through conversation, community, and gratitude.
