Father Gene believes that there are many components that go into a relationship to create a happy marriage. Love, Honor, and Obey. Obey? Obedience doesn’t mean, “Do as you’re told.” Obedience in marriage means listening to the heart of your partner. In order to love someone, and in order to honor someone, one has to listen to them. And this idea can be a model for us for all of life as we strive to listen to others to truly understand others.
Feeling loved sounds simple, yet for many people it’s one of life’s hardest truths to accept. Father Gene reflects on grace, relationships, and the quiet challenge of believing that—even through mistakes and failures—we are still deeply and faithfully loved.
